Forget Me Not's

I called my children after President Uchtdorf gave his October 2011 talk called, Forget Me Not. I said, "You'll never guess what flower President Uchtdorf spoke about in his talk tonight. It's my favorite flower. . . come on . . . guess!" Each one of them immediately said, "Forget-me-nots!" I said, "How did you know?"

Of course they knew {smile}. A wide carpet of sky-blue forget-me-not's grow every spring on a hill behind our one time little white home in rural Vermont, just to the right of the three pines on the hill.
Our daughter, Sadie, gave our charming Cape home the perfect little name: White Swan Cottage. I haven't seen that carpet of flowers in over ten years, but I know it comes up every spring.

I have especially sweet memories of one Spring day, sitting in the middle of the forget-me-nots with my youngest baby son. He was still crawling and had a Gerber baby curl at the top of his forehead. Life seemed rather perfect at that moment. Little did I know that those flowers would become a binding symbol between my children and I. Everyone has their own story. For my children and I, forget-me-nots are part of ours.
